Are You a Lonely Vegan? Here are 7 Easy Tips that Can Help You

It’s can get difficult to live in a society where animal cruelty is considered normal and standing up for the voiceless makes you the weird one. Feeling alone as a vegan is very common. There are days when we feel lonely, angry, and misunderstood. We have seen the documentaries, we have seen the suffering of farm animals, and what they go through just to get to our plates. And the things we know now have changed us. It is normal to feel the feelings you are feeling.

The emotional toll you are carrying is huge. You probably care about your family and yet, you are so misunderstood by them.

Family gatherings are hard. Being a lonely vegan is hard. Holidays and parties are not as fun as they used to be. Eating together is a bonding experience and it’s hard to refuse to eat the cake your grandmother makes.

It’s hard to listen to rude remarks about the food you eat. And some questions that go through your mind.

Why are they still eating animals?

How come they don’t understand me?

Why do I feel so alone?

Why are they rude to me?

So, so many questions.

I have written this as a validation post to your feelings. Living as a vegan in a non-vegan world is not easy. Hopefully, it makes you feel better knowing that you are NOT alone and weird.

Being a lonely vegan is actually very common. You are a wonderful person who cares deeply about the sentient beings around us and chooses to do something about it. And it matters. Each day when you wake up and choose to stand up for animals, matters.

Hi, I’m Petra and for most of my life, I was an omnivore. A vegan couple made me curious about veganism, so I did some research. What I found out about the animals, our planet, and the health benefits of a vegan diet made me go vegan overnight. It’s been 5 years now and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.
