Here is my list of vegan essentials and non-essentials. From the meat and cheese replacements to plant-based whole foods, you name it.

It’s useful to have an idea of what you want to cook. So it’s great to have a list of items that are essential, like the one below, and then have a few recipes, or a weekly meal planned ahead. Free printable vegan grocery list

Here is a free printable vegan grocery list of essential items or basics.

  • vegetables (frozen or fresh)
  • fruits (frozen or fresh)
  • legumes such as lentils, beans, chickpeas (dried or canned)
  • whole grains (pasta, rice, oats, bread)
  • nuts, seeds

You can save the photo below by right-clicking and saving it.

You can make colorful salads, protein-packed and delicious pasta with vegetable sauces, and sandwiches. Keep in mind that some vegetables, legumes, whole grains make a great nutritious meal.

Here is an example. You have onions, garlic, tomatoes, lentils, and pasta at home. Sauté the onions, add garlic, cut those tomatoes, add canned lentils, and cook until the ingredients soften. Cook pasta in another pan and you have got yourself a nutritious meal. You can change the vegetable, legume, and whole-grain ingredients for almost anything you have at home.

And here is a list of meat and dairy substitutes created by Peta. These count as non-essential items. Some people live without these and some love to include them in their daily life. The choice is yours. You can find it here.
